Bottlenose Dolphins engaged in mud-ring feeding behavior in Florida Bay. The dolphins create a ring of mud in shallow water, encircling fish (typically mullet). The fish do not swim through the ring, but leap over the top. The dolphins position themselves outside the ring and feed on the jumping fish.
This behavior is known only to occur here and in Crystal River, Florida.
